Now before we start, let's just say that we're well aware that comparing stats from completely different sports is, for the most part, a completely pointless exercise. Having said that, we still think Ray Boyne, performance analyst with Dublin GAA, has done a bloody good job of showing just how consistent Kilkenny's Richie Hogan is when it comes to passing a sliotar.
Barcelona's midfield duo of Xavi and Iniesta have long been held up as a kind of infallible passing metronome. Over the past five to ten years, their respecting passing stats have been held up as shining beacons of how football should be played.
So, as a mere barometer of what good passing stats are, what happens when you compare one of hurlings most consistent passers to Andres Iniesta's pass completion stats?
What happens is that you marvel at Richie Hogan's ability to find a teammate from nearly anywhere on the field.
if the objective of passing is to complete (retain possession), is it ok to compare Players from different sports ? pic.twitter.com/H59qNTh7qg
