It's fair to say that visitors to Ireland can sometimes find it difficult to understand some of the sayings that we use in this part of the world on a day to day basis.
Phrases that we take from granted can often completely go over the heads of someone who has not spent a lot of time in the country, with our version of English being fairly unique as a dialect.
That dynamic was on show during a recent video released by Premier League club Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest star baffled by Andrew Omobamidele & Irish slang
A native of Leixlip, Andrew Omobamidele first moved to the UK in 2019 to join Norwich City. He certainly has not lost his accent over the last five years, with his use of Irish slang confusing one of his Nottingham Forest teammates.
On the club's YouTube channel, Forest pitched Omobamidele against American Gio Reyna as they had to guess the meaning of slang from the other player's home country.
Whereas much of the American slang was fairly straightforward as it had previously made its way into the mainstream, Reyna found it a lot more difficult to understand the phrases from this part of the world.
Some of the ones included were 'gallivanting', 'locked', 'banjaxed', and 'wreck the gaff', all of which seemed to massively confuse him, despite Omobamidele's best attempt to explain the meaning of each one.
You can watch the video below.
In our heads, we can see Gio Reyna going around telling everyone that his head was wreck the gaff during the next American international camp.
It must be said that whoever did the research to select the Irish slang for the video did a top class job.
