Note To Irish Footballers: Here's How NOT To Impress Managers And Clubs On The Internet

Here's the world-weary, pint-swilling Twitter avatar of Ireland international Cillian Sheridan. I guess it's a nice photo with a certain 5am, hotel lobby malaise to it, but I couldn't help but think that managers who would be intrigued by signing Sheridan would be put off by both the pint-swilling and world-weariness on display, neither of which are hugely exciting traits in a professional athlete. It's sad, but these social media do a lot to forge the public's perception of athletes. For instance, we look at Wayne Rooney's Twitter avatar and see a guy photographed with his wife and know he would never, under any circumstances sleep with a prostitute. I'm sure Sheridan's lonely for Guinness in Sofia, but if I were him, I wouldn't make too fine a point of it.

All that said, I love the Cavan GAA wallpaper on his Twitter page.
