To celebrate 20 years of collaboration between Nike and the Premier League, the partnership have released a limited-edition remake of the Nike Geo Merlin.
The Geo Merlin was the first Nike ball to be used in the Premier League, making its debut in the 2000/01 season. So, you can have reminiscent kick-abouts pretending to be Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and remembering a time when Ipswich Town were finishing 5th.
The limited-edition ball comes with a special white box, because god forbid anyone attempts to play football with it. The price is set at a whopping £155, which is extortionate by any metric. But, on the plus side, the ball does come with the box and a stand. Also, the ball comes inflated, which certainly saves you having to root out a pump.
If anything, this world needs more throwback footballs. We're three years away from the 20th anniversary of the 2002 World Cup. If Adidas don't re-release the Fevernova, some strongly worded emails will be written.
Also, if Nike could also give us a limited-edition version of the Geo Chrome Scorpion, we'd be eternally grateful. Maybe without the ludicrous price-point, mind.
