Some absolutely fantastic marketing from the people at Nike has resulted in news that we were very happy to see this week, as one of the most iconic boots of the late 90s is now available with all the modern tech that goes into the footwear of footballers.
Anyone who played football around the time of the 1998 World Cup will have shared a pitch with someone wearing the silver and blue boots worn by Ronaldo in France, or had a pair themselves as these things were incredibly popular, but now you can head down to your Sunday League matches in serious style thanks to the availability of the 'Nike Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD' via Nike.com.
Available as a custom option when customising the Nike Mercurial Superfly, the Ronaldo R9 design looks bloody gorgeous on the modern boots and is available in a number of different colours.
So... Beautiful...
The downside, and sadly there has to be a downside in this day and age, is that the boots will run you around €275.
At the moment they are only available via the Nike ID service, but should the demand for the limited edition boots be as big as we expect it to be then hopefully a commercial release will follow.
The nostalgia is just so strong.
