In a strange turn of events, a Nigerian coach has been accused of taking part in some sort of watch-based scam. Football411 are reporting that an un-named coach in the Nigerian team is claimed to be forcing players to pay $10,000 for watches and they're too afraid to say no.

Two players spoke to Punchng.com, with one saying:

'The most painful thing is that these wristwatches are sold at very cheap prices in Europe; they go for between $500 and $1000 but he brings them here to sell for us at such outrageous prices. I have to buy or I would be seen as encouraging the other players not to buy.'

The other player claims that he lost his place in a junior national team because of the watches, 'Before I moved to my present club, I was on an apprentice contract, which means I wasn’t collecting much money but the coach forced me to buy the watch.'

Originally I thought this was a wind-up but turns out they might be digital actually.
