Nicklas Bendtner has complained that he's been made to be a "psychopath" by the media. The striker, for whom the term 'much maligned' could have been invented (strikers are always 'much maligned.' It's football writer jargon for 'generally thought to be useless') has claimed he's finding it difficult to get away from Arsenal because of the various (trumped up according to him) stories going around about him.

"I have, for example, talked to clubs who say they have heard this or that story about me. So I have to tell them that it is not true. Of all the things that I have been associated with I have only done one thing wrong and that was in Copenhagen. (he was arrested for drink driving) Regardless of this I have, bit by bit, in people's eyes been made into a psychopath."

Bendtner certainly struck a more reflective note than usual in the Guardian where he acknowledged that he "wasn't as professional as I should have been" in his younger days. He admitted that he hadn't been always "fair to the club" but also insisted that he hadn't always gotten a "fair chance." Thankfully, Bendtner insisted that his "self-esteem and confidence have remained intact."
