Both Celtic and Rangers are reported to be interested in signing former Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell.
The 24-year-old, who currently plays for Wigan in the Championship, is out of contract with the club this summer.
As such, he is allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England.
According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers are set to start a 'tug of war' for Powell by matching an offer already made to the player by Celtic.
Powell joined Wigan on a free transfer from Man Utd in July 2016. He had previously spent time on loan there from Old Trafford during the 2013/14 season. United had paid £6 million to sign him from Crewe Alexandra in 2012.
He has been out of action since injuring a hamstring in late November. Still, Powell has made 18 appearances in the Championship this season - 17 of those starts - scoring four goals and providing four assists as Wigan sit 20th in the Championship.
Wigan manager Paul Cook said earlier this month that the club had opened negotiations with the player about extending his contract.
