Niall Quinn was on The Last Word with Matt Cooper earlier this evening talking about the sacking of Giovanni Trapattoni. After dancing around the presenter's question and waffling on for a bit, Quinn was finally pressed to put one name forward as a candidate to become the new Ireland manager.
Quinn's chosen man was Louis van Gaal, a fine manager no doubt, but one who may have some barriers between him and becoming a realistic appointment. The main one being that he is currently the manager of the Netherlands.
Him being currently employed by the 2010 World Cup finalists is probably the reason Niall has not heard him mentioned as a possible replacement for Trap anywhere in the media today.
