Barcelona striker Neymar has reportedly said he is open to a move to Man United with Ed Woodward hoping to sign the Brazil star before the close of the transfer window next week.
'Sources' close to the 23-year-old claim he would consider a move to Old Trafford as he is attracted to the Red Devils' history, size and the prospect of playing in the Premier League.
Barcelona's manager Luis Enrique refused to comment on speculation linking the player with a move to Old Trafford following their 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
It doesn’t interest me to talk about rumours, nor these types of situations.
Ed Woodward is attempting to complete the audacious signing of the Brazil international before the close of the transfer window, but admits a deal is more likely next summer. The bid will likely exceed the record £59.7m they paid for Angel Di Maria.
All of this is coming from Jamie Jackson in the Guardian, lending some credence to the rumour. However, we can surely all see that this is not going to happen. It's gotten to the stage where the respective managers are actually being asked about it but it simply doesn't make sense.
In reality, it seems there is one of two things going on here. Either information is being fed from the Neymar camp in the hope of getting a new contract, a la Sergio Ramos, or information is being fed from the United camp in the hope that the criticism surrounding the Pedro deal is quickly forgot about.
Regardless of which side it's coming from, we'd suggest United fans shouldn't get too excited.
