England fans couldn't help but be disappointed after yesterday's draw against the USA.
Having dominated in their World Cup opener against Iran, many felt that they looked equipped to go all the way in Qatar. Their performance against the Americans would have provided quite the reality check.
Gareth Southgate's side were incredibly poor in attack, with their opponents actually creating the better of the chances. They were booed off the pitch by some of their supporters at the final whistle.
In the end, many of their fans probably wished they hadn't sat down to watch the game. In saying that, at least they had the option.
Newcastle venue apologises for disastrous England-USA screening
NXNewcastle hosted a massive viewing party in their venue for the game, with supporters paying £15 for tickets in order to attend.
While they probably would have expected a top quality experience as a result, the reality was far different.
The absolute minimum for such an event would be to actually show the match, but they even struggled to do that.
A clip has been doing the rounds on social media of the giant screen showing the wrong channel, with someone then scrambling behind the scenes to find the game. The stream would start a few minutes late for the second half and would drop a number of times throughout the next 45 minutes.
As you can imagine, the punters were not pleased.
Nah I actually lost my shit at the NX, I’m so disappointed by my experience last night https://t.co/oNYqFqtCSK pic.twitter.com/xRIYQ0tpdI

Some of those who were in attendance would also describe issues about overcrowding, anti-social behaviour, and a lack of security.
The venue in question would release a statement to apologise for the experience and said they would look at ticket refunds shortly.
We are very disappointed with the technical problems experienced tonight with the Fan-Zone event.
We are now working with the event Promoter to establish precisely why the Football screening was not delivered as expected.
NX would like to apologise to all fans who had such a disappointing experience. We would like to add that the event was not promoted by NX but by a promoter with a long standing track record of delivering sports events in the city.
We will provide an update regarding ticket refunds shortly.
Many who paid for tickets would soon voice their displeasure at the situation.
Paying £15 to watch the England game and they couldn’t even get it on the screen. First and last time going to @NXNewcastle #refund pic.twitter.com/EyHqeoGqlC

Crowd singing 'we want our money back' in the middle of the second half. £10 entry. Overpriced beers in plastic pots. NX? No thanks. pic.twitter.com/OQD2pZQErr

Anyone who says country over club is mental 😂 @NXNewcastle cheers for showing half the match and playing the delayed commentary. Shittest venue ever.

@NXNewcastle started the second half stream 4 minutes late. Stream went off about 3 times. No commentary. 15 quid tickets. Sound pic.twitter.com/nvfN4idgUl

You’re a shambles. Everyone reluctantly paid £13.50 last night thinking it would be as good as the O2 when it was free. The audio was 5 minutes behind and the video cut out for most of the second half. Worst event I’ve ever been to. Won’t be back.

We walked out at 6:45pm due to overcrowding and went it watch in the Town Wall instead. Shocking event that was a danger to all in attendance. Glad we got out of there before the match even started.

We'd imagine they will struggle to fill the venue for England's remaining World Cup matches.
