Last Sunday's game between Wigan and Newcastle was a controversial affair. Wigan's Callum McManaman made a horrendous tackle on Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara and Wigan also had a late winner allowed despite a possible handball.

There was also some controversy before the game too as approximately 250 Newcastle fans stormed some amateur football pitches near Wigan's DW Stadium. According to the Daily Mail they damaged goalposts, ripped out nets and stole footballs.
