The trailer for Netflix's documentary series on Sunderland football club starts with a devout Mackem detailing his love for his hometown club:

My favourite player growing up was Niall Quinn, so me first born son... I decided to call him Niall, after Niall Quinn.

The opening line sets the tone for the rest of the trailer and hopefully the series as Sunderland fans wax lyrical about their side, with the recent chaos the club has gone through i.e. relegations/manager upheaval/changes in ownership, providing a contrasting backdrop.

"Hopefully this is a turning point," is another line thrown into the trailer, a line which really encapsulates the undying optimism needed to be a Sunderland supporter.

A priest's sermon is also interspersed throughout the preview, which highlights how much fans' lives are intertwined with the successes and failures of their club.

The series looks to be compelling viewing, and debuts on Netflix on Friday the 14th of December.
