What a coincidence...we were just thinking among ourselves: 'whatever happened to former Arsenal defender Nelson Vivas?' - as you do - when the Argentine appeared in the news over some pleasantness with a fan.
In charge of struggling Quilmes in Argentina's Primera Division, Vivas saw his team draw 1-1 at home with Atletico Rafaela on Friday.
At the end of the match, footage showed the 44-year-old (Friday was in fact his birthday) seemingly reacting to something said by a fan by landing three punches on him. Vivas, who was at Arsenal between 1998 and 2001, has since resigned over the incident.
From Eurosport:
"I'm not a violent person but I realise that's not the image a trainer should give," Vivas said.
Club President Anibal Fernandez told Radio La Red that Vivas had gone too far.
"He came to my office and handed in his resignation. He knows he put his foot in it and realises the situation is uncomfortable for the team and regrets his actions," he said.
