It has now been over 18 months since Neil Lennon left his last job in management, with a number of links to other teams having come to nothing since then.

The Armagh native was sacked by Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia back in October of 2022 after a poor start to the season, having only led them to Cypriot Cup glory a few months prior.

Since then, he has been heavily linked to a number of vacant positions.

Neil Lennon publicly expressed his interest in the Republic of Ireland gig, going on to interview for the position only for the FAI to opt against giving him the role. He was also heavily linked with a move to Aberdeen, although those rumours would come to nothing.

Now, he is reportedly being courted by a club from a bit further afield.

Neil Lennon receives lucrative offer from European club

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Neil Lennon has been offered the chance to become the next Rapid Bucharest manager, with a two-year contract worth in excess of £1.5million on the table from the Romanian club.

It is understood that the 52-year old is interested in the position and is awaiting confirmation to travel to the continent to seal the deal.

Rapid Bucharest are clearly on the hunt for a high profile manager, having also been linked with Martin O'Neill in recent days. They currently sit in sixth place in Romania's Liga I, having been promoted to the top flight back in 2021.

Lennon has also been linked with the Hibernian job in recent days, with the Scottish club having recently parted ways with Nick Montgomery. However, Rapid Bucharest is seen as his most likely destination as things stand.

The former Celtic boss will no doubt be keen to return to the sidelines next season, having spent over 18 months out of work.
