Napoli attacker Dries Mertens has become something of a hero around these parts today after he spotted a picture while leafing through National Geographic's Instagram page. The eagle eyed Belgian spotted (or was directed towards) a picture taken by Pete Muller in Meliandou, a small village in southeastern Guinea.
Within the classroom picture was a young boy decked out in last year's Napoli alternate kit with 'Mertens' on the back. The former PSV man then set wheels in motion with a Twitter search to find the young chap and get him an updated jersey.
1: @pkmuller (or @NatGeo ) can you help me get in touch with the boy in my shirt? pic.twitter.com/2AodrKSpLA

2: Would love to give him my latest shirt. Great photo of what looks to be a great project!! pic.twitter.com/lSfGMCm97y

The photographer in question then replied to Mertens and it looks like the boy may be able to get his jersey.
@dries_mertens14 @NatGeo Hi Dries. Just sent you a DM. Happy to help.
