Last month, reports emerged that suggested it may be more difficult for Man United to ship Nani out of the club than had originally been thought. The Portuguese winger has been something of a persona non-grata around Old Trafford for a few years now and the fact that he was given a bumper new contract at the start of the David Moyes reign helped no one.
After heading off on loan to Sporting Lisbon, Man United fans may have been forgiven for thinking they had seen the last of the 28 year old. However, there was the small matter of his wages standing in the way. Sporting were in no position to match Nani's £110,000 a week wages and, as things stand, he'll be back with United for pre-season training.
There were fears that the Old Trafford club would be stuck with Nani on the wage bill but those fears may be about to be allayed with reports emerging that Fenerbahce are about to take him off Louis Van Gaal's hands.
Sky Sports are reporting that Nani has held 'positive' talks with the Turkish side. While United cannot hope to get anywhere near the £20+ million they shelled out for him in 2007, just getting him off the books permanently may seem like a positive development at this stage.
