Brendan Rodgers pulled off one of the coups of the summer when he acquired 20-year-old French striker Moussa Dembele from Fulham.
Dembele was out of contract at the Championship club and had a number of offers but chose Celtic. The possibility of Champions League football was likely a major draw.
The move has worked out well for both parties so far. In 21 appearances for Celtic this season, he has 15 goals. That includes a hat-trick in his first Old Firm game, a 5-1 win in early September. He also got the winner in the League Cup semi-final against Rangers on Sunday and scored twice in Celtic's 3-3 draw with Man City in the Champions League.
Moussa Dembele Man Utd rumours
Dembele's 15th goal of the season came last night against Ross County. According to the Daily Record, Man Utd scout Stephen McCarthy was in the stand at Dingwall to watch Dembele.
He would have to wait just over an hour to see the player he was apparently there to watch. Dembele did not start the game. He entered the fray as a 63rd minute replacement for Liam Henderson.
He would still get on the scoresheet. Deep into injury time, Patrick Roberts laid a chance on a plate for him. The Frenchman made no mistake.
Earlier this week, Zinedine Zidane was one of those with words of acclaim for Dembele. The Real Madrid manager said it was a great sign that Dembele was scoring 'important goals like the one against Rangers'.
Come the summer, there is likely to be plenty of interest in the player. Celtic will be doing very well to keep hold of him for another season.
