The Frenchman would join Bastian Schweinsteiger in bolstering Louis van Gaal's central midfield options.
Schneiderlin underwent a medical at Carrington on Sunday ahead of becoming the Old Trafford club's fourth signing of the summer.
A fee and contract length for the 25-year-old is not yet known though a figure of £25 million was bandied around when he was first linked.
