After a terrific goal-scoring season with Liverpool, the curtain came down on Mohamed Salah in the most devastating fashion last night.
A tangled collision with Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos left the Egyptian star unable to continue beyond the half-hour mark.
In his absence, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool found their attacking threat numbed, and, along with some noted errors from their goalkeeper Loris Karius, they ultimately came undone against a more potent Real side.
After Karius took to Twitter earlier on today to apologise to Liverpool's fans, Mohamed Salah has now responded to his unfortunate injury.
It was a very tough night, but I'm a fighter. Despite the odds, I'm confident that I'll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need. pic.twitter.com/HTfKF4S70e

With some concern (particularly among Egyptian fans) that Salah could be a doubt for his country's World Cup campaign, he is quick to suggest that he will be there if he can help it at all:
It was a very tough night, but I'm a fighter. Despite the odds, I'm confident that I'll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need.
After such a remarkable breakthrough season in the Premier League, Liverpool fans will be hopeful that Salah can return next season in similar form.
