Blame Cristiano Ronaldo. If Ronaldo hadn't the gall to pose for a team shot in his y-fronts after Madrid's El Clasico win last season, footballers would dress tastefully in victory photos for social media. Today, the 'y-front precedent' has lead to calamity for one Adam Clayton of Middlesbrough.
This afternoon. Boro beat Sunderland with an at-times impressive performance. Clayton - who does not play bass for U2 - was front and centre in Boro's midfield, but unfortunately was on the far right of the team shot in his black y-fronts. More unfortunately, a piece of his male anatomy slipped out for said y-fronts right as the below photograph was snapped.

Props to Boro's Adam Forshaw (#34) who pointed at Clayton's family jewels rather than inform his teammate.
