Garry Monk has wasted no time in building his Middlesbrough side as they attempt to make an instant return to the Premier League.
After capturing Jonny Howson earlier in the day, Boro announced via their Twitter that they were in the process of signing Cyrus Christie.

Christie fell out of favour when Gary Rowett took over at Derby last season. After Rowett joined in mid-March, Christie started just two of Derby's last nine games of the season. The writing was on the wall for him earlier this week when Andre Wisdom arrived at Pride Park from Liverpool.
The Teesiders later tweeted a video of the Irish international going through his medical. A fee has already been agreed between the two clubs.

It's a good move for the right-back who has become a vital player for Martin O'Neill in Seamus Coleman's absence. He was never going to play under Rowett at Derby, and by linking up with Monk, he should get plenty of opportunities to show his attacking abilities.
With Boro being one of the favourites for promotion, Martin O'Neill should be happy with the move as well.
