Although it had been announced that Mick McCarthy was set to leave Ipswich Town at the end of the season, the club announced that he has now departed after tonight's victory against Barnsley.
There has been growing rumours in recent days that McCarthy is among the favourites to replace Alan Pardew at West Bromwich Albion.
The manner of McCarthy's departure was typically fraught given the increased scrutiny he has been under the last few weeks.
