We've never made any excuses for our Mick McCarthy love here at Balls and we're not about to start now. While the GIF hall of fame may be what the cult of personality has been built upon, it's the bread and butter of his post match interviews that delivers the real brilliance.
Ipswich once again started the season, but a significant slowdown has seen them drop down to mid table after a run of seven games without a win. However, a 2-0 win over a hapless Bolton side saw Ipswich stop the slide and Mick was in suitably quotable form when speaking to the press after the game.

While that was all well and good, McCarthy did have some important things to say, particularly when it came to one Daryl Murphy. Last season's Championship top scorer has yet to get off the mark after 15 games this season but McCarthy had some positive things to say about his performance last night.
Daryl was back in his pomp and it was lovely to hear his name being sung because I haven’t heard that for a while. How he’s not scored a goal tonight I don’t know, he must have killed an albatross or something! He was great and played really well. He fought his corner, ran his hard yards and that was him from last season. If he continues to do that the goals will come.
That's particularly good news when you consider that with Jon Walters suspended and Shane Long struggling with injury, it may well fall on Murphy to lead the line against Bosnia in Zenica on November 13th.
