Michel Platini Is Refusing To Rule Out The Nuclear Option To Stop Blatter

Michel Platini, who in his wisdom decided to vote for Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup, is refusing to categorically rule out possibility of boycotting that same World Cup, should Sepp Blatter emerge triumphant in the vote tomorrow.

Platini, the UEFA President since 2007 and a man who has the honour of being a close personal friend of John Delaney, reportedly told Blatter to quit his role after the arrests yesterday. As far as FIFA scandals go, Platini has had his fill of them.

I have had enough – enough is enough, too much is too much. I am the first to be disgusted.

I told Mr Blatter ’we started together and now I am asking you to step down as we cannot continue this way’.

He told me ’it’s too late, I can’t today all of sudden leave when Congress starts this afternoon’.

Truth be told, Platini was sheepish enough when asked about a World Cup boycott. He said he wouldn't wish to see such an eventuality but the possibility may well be floated.

There may be proposals. I honestly don’t wish that.

Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill was supposed to take up the vice president position at the world body but will refuse the role should Blatter win tomorrow. He remarked that the fact that Blatter even thinks he could stay on at the stage is 'indicative' of the problem.

Could the net finally be closing around the old tyrant?
