Cork City's hopes of progressing beyond the Champions League first qualifying round took a hit on Tuesday evening as they fell 1-0 to Polish champions Legia Warsaw.
Nearly 6,000 were in attendance at Turner's Cross for Cork's first Champions League game in 12 years.
There was parity between the two sides for much of the game but it was broken in the 79th minute when Michal Kucharczyk hit a brilliant strike from well outside the box beyond Peter Cherrie.
Cork travel to Poland next week in hope of overturning the deficit. If they do not, there is the consolation that they will receive a bye into the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
