The Premier League kicks kicks off Saturday afternoon, and for football fans stuck in cars and buses in the middle of the afternoon, that means listening to Today FM's 'Premier League Live'. TodayFM confirmed yesterday the programme would be kicking off its 18th year on the airwaves on Saturday with a tasty doubleheader featuring commentary of United vs Spurs (with ever-steady Welshman Ron Jones on commentary) and Everton vs Watford. But one thing that will be different about this year's PLL is that Michael McMullen will not be there to anchor the coverage and provide scores from the Championship around the 20 minute mark. That's because McMullen, the man with most identifiable voice in Irish sport radio, has left TodayFM.
Last Friday was the deadline for recruits seeking the 'Sports Anchor' position, which, we presume, will continue to include the role of presenting Premier League Live. Yesterday's press release said that stalwarts John Duggan and Phil Egan will anchor Saturday's coverage but who will present the show in the long-run? We've drawn up an intriguing list of contenders that features TodayFM personalities past and present, plus a few dark horses.

Time will tell on this one. For what it's worth, McMullen's twitter profile still includes mention of his work with TodayFM.
