Owen described the day as the saddest in his life, and it's clear in this video he saw Brown Panther as much more than a four-legged money-making creature. "I love you so much," he says twice, before patting the horse a few times. There is a caricature in the media of Owen as something like an android, spouting punditry cliches as if they were autogenerated by Twitter search terms, but his relationship with Brown Panther, both in good times and bad, provided a different perspective on the striker. He loved that horse.
Genuinely speechless at the kind messages on here today. Thank You. — michael owen (@themichaelowen) September 13, 2015
