You have to love Michael Owen really. At the end of the day he probably just goes home and dreams up ways he can troll football fans the world over. This time it's Man United fans to be on the end of the Owen treatment after he managed to invoke the ire of pretty much all of them with his take on Anthony Martial's start to his Old Trafford career.
A 19 year old heading to another country with the weight of a laughable transfer fee on his back and the knowledge that the pressure is on to lead the line. That's not exactly conducive to setting the world alight but Anthony Martial has done a fairly decent job of doing just that.
Just don't tell Michael Owen that. The former Liverpool and man United striker told BT Sport why he's having none of the hype.
He has done what he had to do, that was the question mark before he came because he didn't have a goalscoring record.
I am not watching him and he is doing things I haven't seen before, he's not taking my breath away but you can't pick any holes in his game right now, he has scored four in four.
While that's not exactly a disgraceful comment, it's inevitably provoked the usual social media outrage that Michael Owen tends to attract. All in all, job done Michael.
