In the rush to crucify Michael Oliver for blowing the penalty towards the end of the United-Fulham match tonight, I have a feeling this screengrab from Michael Oliver's wiki may prove contentious. Here's how the page read around 20.55pm tonight.

Aha! So Oliver is a United supporter! Explains everything, right? Wrong. Check the edit history to the Oliver page. Around 20.51, someone attempted to slip in the Man United supporter line. Seven minutes later, the line was deleted, but that was enough time for a screengrab of the wiki page to spread around Twitter.

The final proof: here's Oliver, a Geordie, discussing his football tastes in the Newcastle Journal: “I’ve always been a Newcastle United fan and I don’t mind admitting that”.

So Oliver's not a younger Howard Webb, he just got it terribly wrong.
