Michael Obafemi could be set for a surprise move to Burnley before the transfer window shuts on Thursday. The Ireland international is currently on the books at Swansea. He only joined the Welsh side from Southampton last year.
Both The Athletic and LancsLive report that Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is interested in signing the 22-year-old. Though it's added in The Athletic's report that "the two clubs are currently a long way apart in their valuation of the striker".
Obafemi has scored one goal in six Championship appearances for Swansea this season as they sit third from bottom of the table with five points.
He endured a tough time at the beginning of his career with Swansea, scoring once in his first 13 Championship appearances last season. However, he sparked into life in February, overcoming injury troubles to score 11 times in 19 games.
The Dublin-born forward went on to featured for Ireland in June's Nations League games, scoring a sensational goal and providing a brilliant assist for Troy Parrott in a 3-0 victory over Scotland.
Michael Obafemi to Burnley
It's said that Swansea are "demanding around £10 million" for Obafemi, considerably more than the £1.5m - £2m they were reported to have paid Southampton for his last year.
Burnley are currently third in the Championship with 12 points from seven games. If he were to make the move to Turf Moor, Obafemi would join fellow Ireland internationals Josh Cullen and Kevin Long at the club.
