18 months ago Michael Keane made his loan move from Man Utd to Burnley permanent, signing a three and a half year deal.
Last season, as Burnley won the Championship and promotion to the Premier League, Keane was a vital part of the Clarets team. He missed just two games for the team in the league. He also scored five times.
Burnley are desperate to keep hold of the player. On Monday, he rejected a new four-year contract which would have made him the best paid player in the club's history.
What stands in the way of that though are the Premier League champions Leicester and, for Keane, the lure of Champions League football.
Leciester had remarkable luck in terms of injury during their title-winning season. A thin squad stayed relatively injury free. The added front of Champions League football means Claudio Ranieri needs to bolster his group.
They have already brought in five players. Goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, centre-back Luis Hernández, defensive midfielder (also a possible N'Golo Kante replacement) Nampalys Mendy and strikers Raul Uche and Ahmed Musa.
They now want to add Michael Keane to that list.
According to the Daily Mail, Leicester are apparently planning a £15 million bid for the player, though Burnley will spurn anything less than £20 million.
Keane played for Ireland at U17 and U19 levels before switching his allegiance to England where he played up to U21.
If he does make the move Leicester, the King Power Stadium will not be unfamiliar to him. Keane went on loan there, from Man Utd, during the 2012/13 season.
