Social media can be a fantastic tool which has changed the way we communicate. Similarly, it can be the breeding of some of the most idiotic 'information' ever put to words. As an example of that, Michael Essien is the second African footballer in two days to have to deny he has been infected with Ebola.
After former Liverpool trainee Dele Adebola was the victim of rumours yesterday, it is now Essien's turn to take to Twitter to dispel misinformation being spouted about his health and the deadly virus which has had debilitating effects on a large proportion of the west African population.
No truth in internet rumours that I have contracted Ebola.i m very well & I'm doing very gud & will be training as usual tomorrow.#falsenews

The Metro have attributed the rumours to someone going by the Twitter handle @YuryAlkaev, who claims to be a former Russian intelligence agent and current sports journalist.
