As Michael D. Higgins worked his way down the line of English players ahead of Sunday's international at the Aviva, he met Raheem Sterling.
The President said something, shook the Liverpool player's hand and was then possibly corrected by England captain Wayne Rooney.
Following this, Sterling sent a prolonged gaze in Michael D's direction.
What was said? Something about his wage demands, maybe?
This is how the Reddit theory goes.
Whatever words were uttered, Adam Lallana, just before Sterling in the line, certainly found it amusing.
