Although Manchester United have an FA Cup final against Chelsea to come, Michael Carrick has probably played his final game for the club he joined from Tottenham Hotspur 12 years ago.

Having won every club honour the game has to offer with United, Carrick's spell with the club - by and large - has been synonymous with great success.

One of the successful penalty takers during United's Champions League final win in 2008, he spoke to the Old Trafford crowd this afternoon after United's 1-0 defeat of Watford.

While it was known that he would be retiring from football at the end of this season, the occasion of his final game has given many cause to let the former England international know what he has done for them.

Perhaps most touching of all, however, was the tribute paid to him by Spanish teammate, Ander Herrera.

Having joined the club in 2014, Herrera praised Carrick for his "normality, for always being in the moment and most of all for you brilliant career."

United's in-house television channel MUTV also put together this compilation of people sending their memories and best wishes for Carrick.
