The
Daily Mail report that former Chelsea footballer Michael Ballack has refused to pay a €10,000 speed fine after being caught by Spanish police doing 131mph in a 75mph zone.

Ballack was facing a two year driving ban and a €10,000 fine but his lawyer argued that because he was currently out of work and did not have any income that he would be unable to comply. He asked that it be reduced to a 1 year ban and a €1,000 fine.

His lawyer said:

Just because he is a famous footballer doesn't mean he has any money coming in

Absolutely hilarious from a man who earned £120,000 per week during his time with Chelsea.

And Ballack does not strike you as the kind of player who squandered the millions that he earned during his playing time.
