Mexico's World Cup qualification hopes are still alive and well following the dramatic scenes from Panama City on Tuesday night.

The US, with nothing to play for against Panama, scored two goals in injury time to deny Los Canaleros a playoff place against New Zealand, and in turn handed Mexico one last chance at reaching next summer's showpiece in Brazil.

Mexico's hero that night was USA's Graham Zusi, who scored the crucial equalising goal against Panana, and the Sporting Kansas City player has been showered in praise and adulation from everybody from south of the border ever since, and he seems to be enjoying it.

On Zusi's return to Kansas City on Thursday, he was greeted by a small group of El Tri fans, spearheaded by local Spanish-language radio station La Gran D, at the club's training facility.

The American midfielder was presented with a framed photo of himself immortalised as Saint Zusi and a plaque of thanks from La Gran D on behalf of all of Mexico.
