Messi's stellar career in Europe seems to have come to an end with the former Barcelona star set to join MLS side Inter Miami. While every other country would be lauding the arrival of Messi, one of America's biggest TV presenters is more concerned that he won't be as willing to learn English as David Beckham was.

Yes, you read that correctly. According to Fox News, Beckham was kind enough to learn English upon his arrival in the MLS.

Although Beckham was the biggest name to grace the MLS with his 2007 move to LA Galaxy, there are few signings bigger than Messi in world football. Messi had reportedly turned down deals from Barcelona and a mega-offer from the Saudi Arabian League to make the move stateside, with the Argentinian joining David Beckham's own team Inter-Miami.

However, Fox News star Brian Kilmeade had some reservations about Messi's willingness to learn English upon his move to Miami. Despite Messi's moderate level of English, Kilmeade made the utterly nonsensical comparison, that his forebearer and former England international David Beckham learned English, especially for the American audience.

The only thing I worry about, he doesn't speak English! and I want to see him sit down and talk.

One thing about David Beckham he learned to speak English for us, with an accent, when he came at thirty-two years old.

In what can only be described as an utterly bizarre contribution from one of America's biggest presenters, he compares the change in accent of natural English speaker David Beckham, to Messi's competence in a foreign language. Kilmeade then goes on to slate a statement that Messi made in English.

While we're no strangers to mad takes from football presenters around these shores, Kilmeade's point of view has to be one of the most ridiculous points we've seen about an international transfer in an awfully long time.
