It's being described as one of the darkest days in Celtic's history and, well, it's quite hard to argue otherwise. Brendan Rodgers' first game in charge at Celtic saw his side - former European champions remember - stutter to a 1-0 defeat to part-time outfit Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar.
The scale of the task facing the former Liverpool boss is now immediately apparent and, if the team is to have any impact on European football this season, serious investment in the squad needs to be made.
The team that they lost to contained a taxi driver, a policeman, a shipping agent and a civil servant. You'd think that Celtic would also list whatever Efe Ambrose's real job happens to be too because we're fairly sure he can't be a full-time professional footballer.
Rodgers didn't quite seem to grasp the magnitude of the defeat. Speaking to the media after the match he was quick to say that despite the massive upset, the result wasn't an embarassment to the club. This is a sentiment that isn't particularly shared on the back pages this morning.
The Sun weren't the only ones to use the 'Shock of Gibraltar' headline but they probably used the biggest font.
While The Daily Record, which hasn't been terribly kind to Celtic over the years, were quick to underline exactly how bad this defeat was for Celtic.
The Scottish Herald were also quite keen to emphasise the sheer shithousery of Celtic's performance last night.
The Scotsman chose to lead with Rodgers' lack of embarrassment for what was a ridiculously embarrassing result, while new Rangers signing Joey Barton reacted to the result as only he can. Those Old Firm battles with Scott Brown are going to be something fierce next season.

The Imps' left-back was driving a taxi until 1pm today apparently. A colossal humiliation for Celtic.

Rodgers sacrificing his career to tactically lose to "the Reds". Liverpool fan to the core that man, respect.
