There have been a lot of strange happenings in this season's Premier League, but one of the strangest happened at Selhurst Park in the match between Crystal Palace and Burnley.
Sean Dyche's side left London with a huge 3-0 away win that extends the gap between themselves and the relegation zone. The game was all but over by the 47th minute when Matt Lowton made it 3-0, after first half goals from Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Jay Rodriguez.
The standout moment was Lowton's third which will surely be a strong contender for goal of the month, if not goal of the season. It's not every day that you see a Burnley full-back pick up the ball on the halfway line, rampage forward while skinning three opposition players, playing a beautiful one-two with a striker before finishing with a powerful first-time volley. An outrageously good goal from Matt Lowton.

It is Lowton's first ever Premier League goal for Burnley. His only two other Premier League goals were scored for Aston Villa back in 2012/13. This was some way to break his duck for The Clarets. Burnley manager Sean Dyche looked like a man who's breath had been taken away by the strike.
Speaking after the game, Lowton's reaction to the goal was priceless, joking that VAR was checking to see if the goal actually happened.
Lowton at full time to the broadcasters: "VAR wasn't checking if it was offside, they were just checking it actually happened." 😅#CRYBUR | #UTC pic.twitter.com/achYRYZDrH

Burnley now sit in 15th place, with an 11-point cushion between themselves and Fulham in 18th. Another few wins from their remaining 15 games will surely guarantee their Premier League safety this season, so if Lowton's goal is any indication of what Burnley are capable of when playing with the handbrake off, they might be an entertaining watch for the remainder of the season.
