Ireland's goalkeeper situation has taken a bit of a nose dive at the start of the new season. Shay Given has gone back to playing back-up following his move to Stoke. David Forde is in and out of a League 1 Millwall team and Kieran Westwood has been suffering injury problems at Sheffield Wednesday.
That means that Martin O'Neill is set to turn to the only Irish goalkeeper who's appeared in the Premier League this season. Darren Randolph may have been brought in as a backup at West Ham but, following Adrian's sending off against Leicester, he made his Hammers debut in the 4-3 loss against Bournemouth.
However, things have significantly picked up for him since. A clean sheet at Anfield during West Ham's 3-0 win over Liverpool kicked off the week quite well and now he's set to take the Irish number one jersey against Gibraltar on Friday.
The Irish Times are reporting that O'Neill has made his choice between the sticks and it is Randolph who will be given the nod for his first start in an Irish jersey.
