The Daily Mail reported last night that Nottingham Forest had approached Ireland manager Martin O'Neill to take over the reins at the City Ground on an interim basis until the end of the season. Billy Davies was sacked by the club earlier in the week after a run of seven games without a win. Also, he wasn't particularly liked in Nottingham.

Quoted in The Irish Times today, a spokesperson for the FAI said that Martin O'Neill had no idea where the story had come from.

I’ve spoken to Martin, he says there’s nothing in it and he doesn’t know where it’s come from.

The report stated that Forest hoped to hold talks with O'Neill today about taking the job.

Thankfully it has now been confirmed that this is all simply bullshit.
