Martin O'Neill is no stranger to success in the English League Cup.
Two times a winner of the competition as a player with Nottingham Forest, O'Neill went on to guide Leicester City to two triumphs in the League Cup as manager in 1997 and 2000, before guiding Aston Villa to the 2010 final.
He was the perfect choice of pundit, then, as Leicester got their Carabao Cup campaign underway (one of the 97 names this competition has had down through the years).
Leicester are adjusting to life outside of the top flight for the first time in nine years this season and, as a result, entered the Carabao Cup at the first round stage, where they were tasked with a trip to Burton Albion
It ultimately turned out to be a routine evening for Leicester, as they marched on to the second round with a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi.
WHAT A FINISH! 🔥

Martin O'Neill captured speaking into ball rather than microphone
The former Republic of Ireland manager was entrusted with making the draw for the second round of the Carabao Cup, alongside ex-Leicester captain Wes Morgan.
In a hilarious segment, O'Neill appeared to confuse the numbered balls with his microphone, choosing to speak into the balls as he pulled them from the pot rather than into his mic.
Host Mark Chapman noted as much as he fought back laughter, saying, "Martin, I don't know why you're talking to the ball each time!"
After laughter could be heard off screen, O'Neill retorted by saying, "it's much better than talking to you," and continued the habit with a wry smile for the remaining draws.
"Why are you talking into the ball?" 🤣🤣

The bizarre segment prompted comparisons with Rod Stewart's iconic contribution to the Scottish Cup fifth round draw in 2017, when the Celtic fanatic and singer put in an outstanding performance in theatrics while pulling the teams out of the pot.
