Martin Keown has reignited his long-standing feud with Ruud van Nistelrooy by questioning the former Manchester United striker's support for Erik ten Hag.

The Arsenal great was speaking on talkSPORT on Monday after Manchester United's latest humiliation.

Interestingly, Keown chose to criticise his old friend Erik Ten Hag's assistant instead of the Dutch manager.

The feud between Keown and Van Nistelrooy dates back to 2003, when the two players clashed on the pitch during a match between Arsenal and Manchester United.

The incident, known as the "Battle of Old Trafford," saw Keown jump on Van Nistelrooy after the Dutch striker missed a late penalty, sparking a mass brawl between the two teams.

Keown was subsequently banned for three games and fined £20,000.

I didn't feel I could trust Van Nistelrooy going into that game at Old Trafford in September 2003. He would collapse at the slightest touch in the box.

Ray Parlour years later said that I started the Battle of Old Trafford. I didn't! I maintain it started when Van Nistelrooy feigned injury, as if Patrick Vieira had kicked him.

Speaking on Monday on talkSPORT, Keown questioned whether Van Nistelrooy was giving his full support to Ten Hag, suggesting that the former United striker might be waiting for an opportunity to take over as manager.

I'm looking at Van Nistelrooy. Is he giving everything to this manager? This manager looks very lonely on the side-line. Is Van Nistelrooy waiting to take over? Because it looks as if there's going to be change taking place there.

Keown also criticised Van Nistelrooy's behaviour during the match, suggesting that he was not fully committed to the team.

Is everybody adding to the group? I'm not seeing that from Van Nistelrooy. Ten Hag is just sitting there, nothing going on, no conversation. Pep goes back and speaks to the gurus next to him. Is everybody looking in the mirror at themselves giving their best?

99% of Manchester United fans are not pointing the finger at van Nistelrooy for the club's failings.

Keown, however, is not letting this beef lie.
