Reports that Marouane Fellaini intended to sue his boot supplier New Balance for a 'loss of employment, inconvenience and impact on performance' have today been substantiated.

Released details of Fellaini's interaction with the manufacturer have revealed that an executive with the American company had assured Fellaini that in response to his complaints, New Balance would "copy" Nike boots for him instead.

In a series of back and forth Whatsapp messaging between the two, Fellaini was told that,

We can fix it my friend don't worry the boot will be made exactly how you want it.

However, it has now been become clear that the Belgian footballer is set to initiate legal action, seeking an astonishing £2 million in damages.

Over the course of a year, Fellaini had issued complaints regarding the comfort of the boots, claiming at one stage that he could hardly walk after wearing the boots for 90 minutes at a time.

Despite assurances that they had their "big dogs" working on Fellaini's new, bespoke boots, the issue would seem to have never been fully resolved.

With no date yet set for the court proceedings to begin, there is already some confusion regarding messages Fellaini allegedly sent confirming that newer boots he had received were "perfect."

Fellaini's legal representation have outlined the details of their case for the Belgian:

The football boots supplied by New Balance were of poor quality and caused considerable damage to Mr. Fellaini's feet.

In order that the boots fit Mr. Fellaini, they were required to be steamed and stretched by the Manchester United FC's assistant kit man.

Mr. Fellaini repeatedly communicated his frustration with the poor quality of the boots.

While New Balance have yet to respond directly to the allegations, their own legal representative has stated that contrary to Fellaini's recollection, his complaints did result in New Balance provided 'bespoke replacement boots.'

Boots that, according to Ian Mill QC, Fellaini indicated he was content with.

Perhaps a concern the Belgian could do without, Fellaini's Manchester United contract is set to expire at the end of this season.
