Reports surfaced last week that West Ham midfielder Mark Noble was open to the possibility of playing international football for Ireland. Noble appeared on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports and got around to talking about the matter.

He said that he had not been contacted directly by Martin O'Neill but that his agent has spoken to the Ireland manager. Questioned if he would play international football for Ireland he was quite cagey, stating that he had not really thought about it.

When asked by Ben Shephard if he would find it strange pulling on the green jersey, the midfielder said that he would due to having captained the England U21s at a European Championships.
