Ex-Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has been forced to leave Egypt and his role as president of the Referee's Committee in the country, following false claims from the president of Zamalek Sporting Club Mortada Mansour. Zamalek are one of Africa's biggest clubs and 14 time winners of the Egyptian Premier League.
According to the Sun, Mansour has been highly critical of Clattenburg in his role, and claimed that the Englishman had left his wife to be in a gay relationship.
Mansour also claimed that Clattenburg was corrupt during his reign in Saudi Arabia, where he held a similar role as head of referees in that country.
Following abuse from supporters and club officials, stemming from these allegations, Clattenburg has decided to leave Egypt, and the role which he only took up last August.
