Mario Mandzukic Goal v Real Madrid in 2017 final. Originally published June 3rd 2017
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player since fellow Real Madrid icon Alfredo Di Stefano to score in three European Cup finals when he gave Real Madrid the lead over Juventus in Cardiff.
Minutes later, Mario Mandzukic wrote himself into similar folklore, after netting one of the great European Cup final goals to pull his side level at 1-1.
First, Leonardo Bonucci's angled long ball was volleyed into the area by left-back Alex Sandro. Gonzalo Higuaín controlled the ball on his chest before flicking it up to the Croatian striker.
Mandzukic in turn took the ball down on his chest, before turning and firing an over-the-shoulder volley beyond Keylor Navas in the Madrid net to the astonishment of viewers both in the stadium and around the world.
Mandzukic goal vs Real Madrid
It was, perhaps, the best European Cup final goal since the man on Real Madrid's touchline - Zinedine Zidane - volleyed past Hans-Jörg Butt in the 2002 final in Glasgow.
Not bad, eh?
