It looks as if Marco Tardelli's time spent in Ireland has inextricably changed the man.
According to the BBC, the former Ireland assistant manager has been nominated to run for the European Parliament by Italian Prime Minster Matteo Renzi .
Tardelli, who spent five years as the less serious half of Ireland's previous management duo, will seek election in May. He will presumably be running for the Democratic Party because of his nomination by Renzi. It will be quite a world away from making the odd cushy appearance on BT Sport with James Richardson and Rafael Honigstein.
Apparently, Tardelli was in London last week and told Boris Johnson "I don't know much about politics." Undoubtedly influenced by his time in this country, he has decided that this lack of knowledge should not be a barrier to becoming a politician.
