Spanish publication Marca are well known in this part of the World for their transfer news which almost exclusively involves luring the stars of the Barclays Premier League to Real Madrid, but they also talk about other footballing matters as well, apparently.
The minds at Marca have compiled an interesting young European team of the season, based on breakthrough performances in the top leagues from around the continent, and while it is mostly very sensible, there is one very strange inclusion.
It seems that 29 year old Italian midfielder Mirko Valdifiori was included for his excellent season at Empoli, despite being five years older than the next oldest player.
The team in full:
Timo Horn (FC Koln)
Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)
Daniele Rugani (Empoli)
John Stones (Everton)
Baba Rahman (FC Augsburg)
Mirko Valdifiori (Empoli)
Francis Coquelin(Arsenal)
Felipe Anderson (Lazio)
Paulo Dybala (Palermo)
Nabil Fekir (Lyon)
Harry Kane (Spurs)
That's four Premier League players included, along with reported Manchester United target Felipe Anderson, and new Juventus signing Paulo Dybala.
